Life Lessons

I've learned not to take other's job title's for granted.  Being in certain positions at work you tend to think you know everyone's job or the different tasks they perform while doing their job.  Everyone has different duties and when your on the outside looking in and thinking you know what they are suppose to or can be doing can be very blindful especially if you don't perform their job task on a daily basis.  I just recently got a promotion and being in this position, I knew what was expected but the reality of the matter is I didn't know how much work it was going to take and the extra amount of stress that comes along with the job title.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy what I do, even though it is very challenging, I just didn't fully know the amount of work others had to put in when I wasn't in this position.  I was one of the one's on the outside going they can do this or all they do is thant when they can be doing this.  Now that I have that particular job I'm like wow, this is easier said than done.  Lesson learned don't walk around and assume you know what others have to endure on a job.

  1. I agree with you. Some people can put on a big show and make you think that they have nothing better to do than walk around. They seem like they have it so easy and sometimes that just comes from years of experience on how to do what they do. I have experienced the same thing. I work in a two year old classroom and I have mainly worked with children that wear diapers my whole career in childcare. I always thought that the teachers of the older classroom had it made since they didn't have to change diapers all day and they should be able to do more. When I was moved to a three year old classroom I quickly realized that even though they didn't have daily diaper duty they had a whole new set of problems.

  2. I believe everyone no matter who we are take other people for granted. We take not only their jobs but their lives for granted. I know that myself, I have always been jealous of others who seemed to have more in their life than me, but then you get to know them and you realize that they did not have as much as you once thought they did. For jobs, the easiest way to express that in my opinion is motherhood. When you are a child, you believe that your parents never do anything. As you grow up and grow into a family of your own, you realize all the responsibilities that your parents had that you never even knew existed.

  3. Amen and amen! Well said! I think that everyone should have to work in a factory and a fast food restaurant for at least a week. Granted, there are others that might work just as well, but these are the two types of jobs that go so under-appreciated. Just because many of the people who work in factories or restaurants don't have college degrees, that doesn't mean they're ingorant, yet, they're often treated as ignoramouses. Not to mention the fact that we get these "professional" jobs and think our job deserves more pay, more credit, more credibility, MORE.....when in actuality, there probably is someone out there working just as hard as you--if not more so--in the very job you think would be a "nothing" job...

(I hope I've explained myself well enough and that I come across the way this is intended...)
